1. Neeta Lulla

Neeta Lulla is one of the notable women in the fashion industry who has charmed fashion enthusiasts with her grand thematic period costumes. She got her degree in Dressmaking and Apparel construction from SNDT University where she also worked as a lecturer during the early days. She is the first choice for filmmakers who wish to portray characters from a historical era with complete authenticity. She won the National Film Award for Best Costume Design for her work in films like 'Lamhe', 'Devdas' and 'Jodhaa Akbar’. 

2. Ritu Beri

Ritu Beri is a pioneering designer and one of the inspiring women in India who successfully gained international recognition with her craft. She studied fashion designing at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi. She is the first designer from Asia to head a French couture brand, Jean-Louis Scherrer. Her work garnered worldwide attention with reputable personalities like Nicole Kidman, Andie McDowell, former U.S. President Bill Clinton choosing to wear her designs. 

3. Payal Singhal

Payal Singhal’s area of expertise is the bridal collection. She is known for her innovative approach that breaks the conventional ideas about wedding wear. Lightweight dresses in pastel shades are her signature style. Her designs are meant for women who are used to western clothing and find it hard to adjust to the traditional wedding dresses. 4. Anita Dongre

Anita Dongre was born and raised in Mumbai and studied fashion design at SNDT Women's University in Mumbai. She is equally well-versed with traditional dresses like sarees, lehengas and western dresses like jumpsuits, tops, etc. Floral embroidery with organza and net fabrics is her speciality. She owns four brands and her work has successfully gained international recognition. Her label Global Desi is a hit as it draws inspiration from Rajasthani Folk Art. 

5. Masaba Gupta

Masaba Gupta is an entrepreneur and fashion icon who started her career at age 19. She is known as the "Queen of Prints". Masaba Gupta’s design is inspired by literary characters. Modernity infused with ethnicity is her area of expertise and she has gained acclaim for her unusual drapes and silhouettes. Cotton and muslin are her favourite canvases. Her African lineage also gives inspiration to create unique designs that have gained attention from Bollywood A-listers. 

6. Anamika Khanna

Anjana Sheth started her career in 1998 and caught the eye of fashion enthusiasts for her unique style. In 2004, she launched her international label: Ana mika, and showcased her collections at the Lakme Fashion Week's Grand Finale. She also became the first female Indian designer to appear at Paris Fashion Week in 2007.
